  1. I am like that with books as well. I love everything about books and love most the ones that grab me in the first sentence or two. If I lived next door to the library, I'm not sure I would ever get anything done but reading.

  2. I simply love books. I'm probably the worst candidate for a kindle. And I also need to be caught with the first sentence. Funny, I also love Anne Lamott and Elizabeth Berg. At the moment I'm re-visiting Barbara Kingsolver's "Animal Dreams" and love it even more than the first time I read it.

  3. I can't imagine living that close to a library, Susan. But then, what am I saying: our library is only 2 blocks away! I actually passed it today while on a walk and thought to myself that I need to start visiting there to see what I can find...especially in English. :) Thanks for the added inspiration.

  4. Lucky you - living next door to a library. It's true what they say - books CAN be a 'best' friend!!!! And - I just love the quote. Made me smile...

  5. what a fantastic quote:

" Reading is one form of escape. Running for your life is another."

i could not be without books either; we don't really have good bookstores in arusha but there is an old man who sells old ones at a stall on the side of the road. i have got some amazing ones from him. i once found a first edition book written by leonid brezhnev, about agriculture in the old ussr, complete with all b/w plates. not a 'light read' for sure, but an amazing find!!

  6. My father learned to me how to write and read, when i was 5.
Since then, till now, books are my best ways to travel, to flight, to dream, to know, to imagine, to live in other's lives, to be happy.
I just can't imagine my life without books!
    I adore them!
That's why i love your post and your amazing photo, Susan.
