Gypsy curse

  1. funny, my heart stayed in colorado after i left. the only time i am at home is when i lived there and now when i vacation there. i know my home is where my husband and kids are, but that yearning has nothing to do with my love for them. it has to do with me feeling like i belong to a community that extends beyond those with my last name. my second home is on the road. when i am traveling, i am at peace.
that gypsy curse...no curse at all. just a life choice. a lovely and exciting one, especially if you are in a position to live it.
i love your posts, susan :-)

  2. Absolutely beautifully said, Christine! Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts.
Colorado is a place we seem to come back to, there is magic here, for sure!

  3. Beautiful photos, by the way.

I feel fortunate to have been a world traveler before the age of thirty, actually living in some of the places, not just visiting them. Some of them I'm still homesick for. I've found ways to nest in each place I've lived (except for San Angelo, TX -- with no car, I just couldn't deal!) and if we moved tomorrow, I'd be ok with that. For now, I'm happy because I have my family.

  4. And what a sweet family it is! I bet with your background you have really been to alot of interesting places. I think the key is to be able to nest where ever you are, like you have done.
    Thanks, Lori, for the visit.

  5. Looks and sounds like a pretty incredible place - full of love and life!!! And - no 'place' has everything. It's what's within us that makes it 'perfect'.

    Do whatever you like!
"Home" is, where the heart is...

    Great photos, as always!

  8. Teteel ... I guess we should have a beautiful gypsy wagon, that would be perfect! Or a home such as yours by the sea ... I'm so happy you enjoy the crazy photos!

  9. Susan, I read this a few days ago and wanted to come back and comment when I had the time to do it properly. I completely understand your gypsy heart. I've traveled a lot in the world and lived in many different places and the one thing it's taught me is that I could live anywhere...the world is really my home. 99% of the people are kind and caring wherever I go and it's the people who make a place home.

I admit I have a preference for being near the ocean but really, there's beauty everywhere on our planet. I've lived in the arctic and have found that even the bareness there is beautiful.

It's important for us all to listen to our hearts...and it sounds like you're doing just that!

  10. Yes, Kate! Mostly it seems that's the thing I can do, is listen to my heart but I do think it would feel good to be settled at some point, not sure if that will ever happen for us.
    I always appreciate your thoughts.

  11. The gypsie curse. The wandering soul. The nomad. It's in my natal chart, especially for long-distance travel, Susan. I'd love to see what's in your chart. That would be most interesting. :) But it's usually all there. Burnt into the fibers of our very being! :)

  12. Love those words so much, wandering soul, nomad ... guess it's burnt into our fiber, for sure. It could be time for a reading to see what might be going on!

  13. I agree that it is very important to be able to nest wherever you lay your hat because sometimes things can change unexpectedly and that place we call home can be snatched away from us and if we can't nest somewhere else it makes everything so much harder.

It is nice to roam and feel a part of a lot of different places, but it is nice to settle too. However, Kate said it best - there is beauty everywhere and the world is our home. I love that!

  14. Hey Selma, you are so right that things can change unexpectedly and fast! That's the thing, for some of us it is nice to roam and nice to settle, it can get confusing at times! But there is all that beauty, thankfully, and I thank you for your thoughts.
