Getting back to myself

These stunning buttons are from The Mountain Man shop.

And also on this day, we'll just say many years ago, a big, healthy baby boy joined our family ... my first son who is still such a wonderful and sweet and remarkable man.
Happy Birthday, Kip. You are so well loved!

  4. I am so utterly surprised and giddy by this post!!! To know you are back to making these incredibly gorgeous bags ~ to know you are deep in the scent and the feel ~ to know your soft eyed friends are telling to to go ahead, it's alright ~ to know all this, it must be freeing and joyful and inspiring :-D
Like Gotham Girl, I was hoping to one day buy one of your leather bags, and when the right one strikes me, I am asking this time for a price. Seeing these, I wish I still wore belts ~ the lacing, the buttons, and the colors are all gorgeous! Enjoy the newness once again :-D

    1. Yay! Whenever you're ready and just to let you know those belt bags work wonderfully inside another bag and fit in your hand very nicely to carry, too. That's how I've used mine for the past dozen years. The inside has a roomy space for folding cash and cards and a bit more and a smaller one in the front for change.
Thank you so much for the kind words and encouragement.

  6. Several of us have been talking about how we (collectively in the world - in many places ... not all) have lost touch with earth. To plant, to grow food, to harvest, to hunt. To ensure that what is planted is used. It is this special bond with the earth and life that feeds some artisans, and it certainly is present here. Leather is a unique material which I have recently started to use in my work. Of all the leather I use, deer is special. It is soft. I can sew through it. And it doesn't shed like most. It is by far my favorite. And I can only imagine the feel of a bag made with it. These must feel wonderful in the hand. I love the twisting of the stitch in that last one - you can see the artisan touch. It is just wonderful! And that large silver button is outstanding on the leather. The look of this is what I grew up with and love in handmade pieces. Your work is quite simply beautiful.

  7. Bravo, braveheart! Happy homecoming:)
Isn't it funny how life can smack things out of our hands just by shaming and lying us into corners.
Your hands were meant to create beautiful things with the stuff of earth.....it's a gift.
You honor the gift and the giver when you live it out. What a beautiful journey you're on.
Someday I will own one of your creations:)
    Cheering wildly in your corner,
    Jennifer

  10. And I am trying to get back to connecting with my friends' writing. I have a similar struggle, especially after I took a course on animal welfare. But all the animals in that class were domestic or wild but caged (such as zoos). I could never hunt myself but I'm not against people who do legal and non-trophy hunting -- hunting for meat and skins. I especially believe that people who truly think about the life of the animal as you have and are respectful of it are doing it right.

Those bags are absolutely gorgeous. I love the clean, simplicity of them. And on your Leatherwork page, my favorite is the one near the center with red. Oh, and the one with blue and the leaping pony!
