I loved the story, the interactions you have and had, and this gorgeous buckskin--a luxury!
You found a beautiful deerskin, it looks soft as butter! Maybe you have found your new leather shop after all? I look forward to seeing the creations that spring from it. xoxo
What a story in contrasts! Let's hope we continue to find the positive experience with each negative one! This piece is beautiful...and I know it will make someone very very happy in the future! Sending love...
I am so sorry to hear of your local shop closing ... absolutely nothing replaces an artist picking up material and feeling it in your hands. that moment when you can imagine what it will become, and designing in your head. I love that moment. The leather you show here is gorgeous and I can imagine its soft feel to the knowing hand.
This is a bittersweet post...bitter with the ignorant shop gal. Bitter with your wonderful leather shop closing. Sweet with Mountain Man wanting your business enough, valuing you enough, to work with the price. Sweet with this luscious deerskin. This has to be seen and touched for to buy, so online couldn't possibly work. Always seen and felt. I hope you find another steady place for your leather needs...perhaps Mountain Man will continue to have a SusanPrice.
When shops like your local leather shop close it's like we're losing some kind of home away from home. How lovely though how the Mountain Man shop provided you with such a great experience - I love this! It's shops like this that I tend to visit over and over again. Whereas shop no. 2 - no, not really.
